About Us

The study of politics and economics provides a multifaceted understanding of our world. Politics encompasses both intense clashes over paramount issues and the collaborative pursuit of solutions to complex problems. Economics offers an analytical view of the world, illuminating the intricacies of human behavior and the forces that shape societies.

Politics Program

Students of politics explore the structures of power and authority that shape societies. A degree in political science or international relations degree from ÃÛÌÒapp opens doors to various professions, spanning fields such as law, teaching, political consulting, journalism, public administration, law enforcement, elected office, and non-profit organizations, both domestically and internationally. In addition to Political Science and International Relations majors, the department also offers an interdisciplinary Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) major.

Economics Program

Students of economics are trained to pair their analytical capacities with substantial empirical training. They learn to make sound inferences from data and present their findings in clear, compelling, even-handed writing and speech. In today's data-driven world, economics has become an increasingly important field. A degree in economics, provides a preferred credential for a wide range of career paths, including Wall Street, law, non-profit work, and policy research. The department offers both B.S. and B.A. majors in Economics.

With exceptional faculty members who integrate faith and learning, the Department of Politics and Economics at ÃÛÌÒapp equips students and members of the broader community to advance human dignity and the common good by discovering together how to build institutions that contribute to justice, equity, and universal flourishing. The department’s professors have extensive teaching, research, and professional backgrounds. The department is large enough to offer a broad range of courses, but small enough to give students close, personal attention both inside and outside of the classroom.Â
